Favorites in Search

Favorites in Search is a website feature that integrates saved content directly into the search experience. It reduces decision fatigue by helping users rediscover what they already value while exploring new options.

Opportunity

Users frequently saved content but rarely returned to it through existing navigation. Searching often meant starting over, even when preferences were already known.

The opportunity was to connect memory and discovery.

Insight highlights

It all started with a user said:

A quote from a user named Kristin saying "I have so many saved recipes that rather than search through them, I'll often times just do a new search."

Customers would save so many recipes that they would either forget they’ve bookmarked one that they could potentially make in their next meal. Their saved recipes are stored in the “Favorites” page and, because they come to our website to use the search bar to find recipes that could use up their current inventory of ingredients, shuffling through their saved recipes seems like a tedious task.

Solution

Favorites appear directly within search results, blending past preferences with new possibilities. The experience feels assistive rather than prescriptive, helping users orient themselves quickly.
